Sowing agricultural knowledge - November 10, 2006
This seed will be planted by Downlands Agricultural students on the Downlands Farm. The crop growth will be monitored by students and the produce will supplement the diet of the college cattle which will be exhibited at agricultural shows during 2007.
“Being involved with the Agriculture at Downlands program has really helped me understand inputs to farm production and how that effects returns,” said Luke. “I can now better understand what happens at home and the planning that is required on a farm when I am working with Dad during the holidays.”
Pacific Seeds has sponsored the forage crop at Downlands over the past three years and with the company's support Downlands production has increased tremendously. Downlands Agricultural teacher, Mr Tim Morris, is enthusiastic about the partnership, “This is a terrific way to show the students that industry can work very closely with producers and it gives us an opportunity to expose the students to the impact agricultural technology can have on production. We really value Pacific Seeds help.”
