Another record year for charity - December 23, 2005

Every year I put pen to paper, and every year I am truly amazed and overwhelmed by the support and generosity of the Pacific Seeds' staff and our corporate suppliers. Annually the company supports a specific charity at Christmas time. The humanitarian part of who we are at Pacific Seeds drives us to help create magicial experiences for little people at what should be the most festive season of the year.

My mentor, and that’s right my boss – Chris Bazley always sits and chats with me on this one, helping to guide me in co-ordinating these charity efforts. We talk over the round timber table in his office and discuss the who’s, what’s, where’s and how’s of the endeavour. And thankfully with his direction I begin to put all the pieces into play.

Firstly I contact a selection of our major suppliers, these are the business that have a long and solid relationship with Pacific Seeds. In fact, you could say these businesses in an exchange of either goods or services, are major players in the success of who we are.

When approached all these organisations give generously in the form of goods, vouchers and cash donations; we then use much of this for a huge company charity raffle.  This event remains in-house and takes place on the last working day before the annual Christmas break.

On that day, our management team takes on the responsibility of organizing a wonderful luncheon and this is when the entire Pacific Seeds' staff congregate in the courtyard. Over turkey, salads, cherries and watermelon the team of employees become involved in the purchase of countless tickets or subsequent cash donations in the hope of taking something home for Christmas.

And in the final wrap up process, mid March sees Pacific Seeds inviting a representative of the Smith Family to visit the company on site, join the staff and corporate suppliers and receive the donation funds.

This year saw record funds achieved with a mammoth $1860 raised, the biggest effort to date!  Congratulations to all – truly amazing!

Below are listed the names of all the organisations that gave so generously to our request, some of them you will recognise, and some of them you will know well. To all of these wonderful companies a sincere thank you. This would not be possible without your support!

It’s a demonstration of one of our company values ‘Esprit d’Action’ – The spirit of action. Taking the initiative to make things happen. We did exactly that in 2005! We made a difference! Well done Pacseeds team!
