LRPB Sniper gives LRPB Lancer growers the same maturity, adaptation and disease package they already rely on, plus 5 to 9% more yield across NSW and Southern Queensland, and it holds yield when sown late instead of falling away the way Lancer does. It’s the first variety suitable to replace Lancer that carries an RMR stripe rust rating since 2020.

LRPB Sniper

Is Sniper a replacement for Lancer?

Yes. Sniper is the first variety in the Pacific Seeds range suitable to replace Lancer on farm while keeping Lancer's maturity, adaptation and disease package. It yields 5 to 9% more across NSW and Southern Queensland, and it holds yield in later sowing windows where Lancer falls away.

What about screenings?

In 2023 Sniper showed potential for higher screenings than Lancer after severe stress during grain fill, in northern trials planted late in the window. On that data it performed on par with varieties of similar maturity, though behind Lancer for screenings. The softer 2025 season flagged no major defect. Screenings risk is typically reduced with Victrato seed treatment.

Where is Sniper adapted?

North of Temora through to Roma, with its best adaptation in Northern New South Wales. Central Queensland is outside the range. Southern New South Wales growers can use it, and it performs strongly there in later sowing windows.

Where can I get seed?

Sniper is available for sowing in 2027 through the Pacific Seeds Seed Associate Network. Seed is limited in the first year, so talk to your Seed Associate or Pacific Seeds Territory Manager early.
