Genetics by environment

Each year, dozens of technology development (TD) trials are conducted across the cropping regions of Australia. Using both our existing and experimental varieties, we gather insights into product performance under different conditions.

The results of these trials don’t exist in isolation. Using biometric analysis, they are compared and standardised across the region and environment. This means confidence in how our varieties perform across environments and seasons.

Industry-leading innovation

Blackleg resistance

Our expanded genomic selection operation allows us to deliver continued leadership in blackleg resistance.

Canola flower
Greater flexibility

Our TruFlex hybrids offer canola growers a wider spraying window, extending beyond the current six-leaf stage up to first flowering.

First-class facilities

In 2018, we invested in a state-of-the-art greenhouse at our headquarters in Toowoomba. It has allowed for an expansion of our breeding activity and genomic selection, delivering a range of benefits both to farmers and industry including an expanded herbicide tolerance portfolio adapted to Australian growing conditions.

Providing solutions to growers and industry

Providing solutions to growers and industry

Our technology development program works with some of the best growers, businesses and institutions in Australia to continually trial and evaluate advances in crop management, ag-tech and agronomy.

These solutions are provided freely to growers and industry through our agronomy publications, field days, industry events and farm visits.

While the industry has been struggling with drought, Pacific Seeds has been investing in developing traits and exploring management techniques that can help deliver more dependable outcomes in these harsh environments.

Pacific Seeds, the University of Queensland, and Queensland’s Department of Agriculture and Fisheries have together received $605,000 from the Australian Research Council for a project to look into identifying sorghum genes with improved heat tolerance to incorporate into new varieties.
